Computing Resources


  • People in the Biology Department have access to mainframe and personal computers from three sources: through laboratories, the department, and the Information Technology Services.
  • For those users utilizing the Biology Departmental Network, please take a moment to read and understand the Biology Network Access Policy.
  • To contact a Network or IT staff member with a network or IT issue please send an email to sysadmin @ bio.psu.edu.
  • You may also learn about the resources available to you by exploring our navigation menu to the left.


Please note: before a computing device may be connected to the Biology Network, it must be scanned for viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.  Users who wish to connect a new (or never before connected) machine to our network must contact the IT support office by sending an email to sysadmin @ bio.psu.edu to set up an appointment for this scan.  Users must also read and understand the "Rules of the Road" for our network, which are available here.
